The Platform | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Robbie Collin Daily Telegraph (UK) It's anything but a balanced diet, but there's much to chew on regardless. Rated: 3/5 Nov 28, 2020 Full Review The Platform | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Adam Graham Detroit News If you can stomach it, "The Platform" is a funny and fierce farce with its eyes on race, class and the ways people can rise up for the betterment of all by working together. Rated: B+ Apr 4, 2020 Full Review The Platform | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Olly Richards Empire Magazine Gaztelu-Urrutia is making accusatory points about society, but he's not finger-wagging. The Platform delivers its moral message with the mechanics of a lean thriller. Rated: 4/5 Mar 26, 2020 Full Review The Platform | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Bianca Garner InSession Film The Platform leaves you craving more. A word of a warning: it’s probably best to go into this film on an empty stomach. Rated: A- Jul 31, 2024 Full Review The Platform | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Pradeep Menon Firstpost The Platform offers an ingenious setup - perfectly in tune with the current times of pandemic and social distancing - that comments on everything wrong with human society in its approximately 90-minute runtime. Oct 16, 2023 Full Review The Platform | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Manuel São Bento MSB Reviews Even if the ending only works partially, the symbolism and allegories of our world's politics and social-economic situation are a brilliant, thought-provoking piece of a screenplay. I like it more the more I think about it. Rated: B+ Jul 24, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Samuel S One of the best horror movies released in the last 10 years Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/16/24 Full Review Esther M Loved it. It feels so good to find something original in this lately boring world of superheroes, remakes, spin-offs, etc.Gore? Oh yes but I have to say that it's necessary for this story. Very interesting characters and plot and you'll want more. There's no hope for humans and/or society but fortunately there's for cinema. Also, bravo Spanish film industry 👏 Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/14/24 Full Review Christine T Simply terrible and don't expect any kind of ending because there wasn't one. How and why they got the funding for a second movie I really don't know. Don't waste your time...if anything this movie only succeeded in making me hungry! Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/14/24 Full Review TI H This is a story set in a prison, called the Pit, with every cell comprising one level out of many, many, many, many levels. I imagine the facility to be a really thin, tall building, or perhaps it has been built underground, or perhaps both are true. Every level harbors two prisoners, although some are volunteers (!) in this massive government experiment. ////////// A dining platform begins at Level 0. The table is completely decked out with an astonishing banquet of gourmet food, prepared to perfection, as if being served to a royal family. The inmates have two minutes to eat as much as they can or care to. The feast is then lowered to Level 2; so, the Level 1 prisoners get a chance to gorge themselves. At Level 2, there’s less food to eat for the inmates in that room. At Level 3, less. At 4, even less. And so on. It’s slim pickings by Level 50. The dining platform is empty long before it reaches Level 200, 250, perhaps 300—wherever the bottom floor resides—and so, those poor schmucks way down there in “purgatory” are forced to get. . .creative…about how they find sustenance. Many starve. //////////I sometimes wonder if Hollywood has run out of ideas. Perhaps that’s why I always give movies like THE PLATFORM a chance, because each premise is so bizarre, it promises to entertain. This particular movie manages to examine society, human nature, human cooperation, human greed, and inhumanity quite thoroughly. Although it works intellectually, it is nauseating to watch, hardly entertaining. The director stops at nothing to show how low human beings will sink. /////////////But the plot also shows how people care for one another—even when they have to threaten others with harm and feces to make sure everyone survives. The protagonist of the story takes a “no one left behind” attitude in an attempt to alter the rules of the prison. The plan, sadly, requires much violence in service of, ironically, a peaceful protest. ///////////////I found myself unable to enjoy the film, simply because my stomach couldn’t take ninety-four minutes of revulsion. Perhaps it was necessary for the filmmakers to go to such extremes to educate us about ourselves. Still, the next time I seek political statements, I’ll read/watch 1984, followed by a chaser of Lord of the Flies. I might even try the movie The Cube for dessert. THE PLATFORM, however, was too much for me to swallow. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/13/24 Full Review Saeeda D Rubbish ending! Made no sense. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/13/24 Full Review Jason A This. Movie. Sucked. No point. No real plot. Random ass ending. How the hell could it have such high tomatoes!?
