Melting Glacier is the sixth chapter of Dave the Diver. This walkthrough guide will see you through every aspect of exploring the Giant Blue Hole, from catching fish and serving them at Bancho Sushi to upgrading Dave's diving gear, completing quests, and taking down the toughest bosses the Giant Blue Hole has to offer.
Spoiler Warning
This walkthrough will include story spoilers for Chapter 6: Melting Glacier, so proceed with caution.
Melting Glacier
advertisement
You'll have to wait until nighttime for Cobra to tell you his plan, so do anything you need to take care of until that. That might mean catching tuna for the Tuna Party, farming vegetables for Sammy, going on dives for side quests, or just skipping until it's nighttime.
Once it's evening, Cobra will tell you his plan: you'll follow one of the Sea Blue drones to their hideout and steal the part you need. It's not dark enough yet, so go take care of business at Bancho Sushi. Afterward, you'll be brought back to the boat. Cobra will present you with an infiltration suit and remind you to follow the Sea Blue drone. The only catch is you won't be able to take any weapons or equipment. This is a sneaking mission. Once you're ready to go, dive in.
Follow the drone from a safe distance, generally about two to three diver lengths behind it. Occasionally, the drone will stop and scan the area behind it, but as long as you keep your distance, you should be safe.
You'll encounter lots of hostile fish in this area, including jellyfish, red lionfish, sharks, and pufferfish. Because you don't have any weapons, you'll have to avoid them. This can be difficult, but try to stay away from bigger fish like sharks and dash pash jellyfish, lionfish, and pufferfish. If you do get hit, don't worry about it. Try to get away from the hostile fish that hit you and keep following the drone from a safe distance. Eventually, the drone will come to the entrance of the hidden Sea Blue base, and Dave will follow it inside.
Once inside, you'll see that Sea Blue has been harvesting dolphin meat. They're not the environmentalists they claim to be. Either way, you've got mechanical parts to find.
Retrieve the Tech Suit Part
advertisement
In this section, Dave the Diver does its best Metal Gear Solid impression. You'll have to guide Dave past the guards and cameras to the top floor, so he can steal the mechanical part you need. If either the guards or cameras spot you, it's game over.
Start by moving Dave forward until he comes to a cardboard box. Crouch down behind the box, and wait until the guard patrolling the floor comes over to the box. The guard will stay here for a second. Once he resumes his patrol, vault over the box with the space bar or X/square and follow him until he goes past a ladder and stops. While he isn't looking, climb the ladder.
On this floor, you'll run into your first camera. After you climb the ladder, head left. You'll see the camera ahead of you, as well as a large stack of crates right in front of you. When the camera is pointed away from you, hide behind the stack of crates so that it fully conceals you from the camera. When the camera looks to your right, move past it.
You'll come to another cardboard box. Like you did last time, crouch behind the cardboard box until the guard comes over, and when the guard leaves, follow him and climb the ladder he passes.
There is another guard right above you, so if he's looking in your direction, wait on the ladder until he turns away from you. Once he does, follow him and hide in the freezer he'll pass by.
You can only stay in the freezer for a short time, so as soon as the guard moves past you to the left, head right.
advertisement
This next section requires perfect timing and more than a little luck. Essentially, you're caught between three things that can detect you. The guard on your left that you just passed, a camera, and another guard on your right. You'll have to hide behind the stack of crates to avoid the camera, but if you stay there too long, the guard on the right will spot you. If you head back left, the guard on the left will spot you. If you go past the stack of crates at the wrong time, either the guard on the right or the camera will spot you.
Here's what to do: as soon as the guard on the left passes the freezer you're in, head right. If the guard on your right is standing near the crates, wait for him to walk away and then hide behind the stack of crates when the camera isn't looking at you.
As soon as the camera pans to the left, hide in the freezer to your right. You'll probably see the guard on your right walking towards you as you hide in the freezer, but if you're quick, he won't see you. This section may take you several tries because of how tight the window is.
As soon as the guard on your right walks past the freezer to your right, exit the freezer and follow him. While he's facing away from the ladder, climb it. Again, the timing here is very tight. If you don't exit the freezer as soon as he passes it, he will turn and see you on the ladder and you will have to do this entire sequence again.
Once you're up the ladder, however, you don't have to worry about anyone else. Continue left and vault over a cardboard box. If you want, you can pick up a ration lying on the ground for a fun Easter Egg.
You'll come to a door that leads to an office just after the ration. Open the door by holding the the space bar or X/square and examine the Sea Blue poster and then the chalkboard with Dave's picture on it. After that, examine the mechanical part on the desk.
WhenJust when it seems like Dave's about to be caught, he makes a daring escape through the window.

After a short scene with Cobra on the boat, you'll be taken to the next day.
The Sea People's Workshop
The next day, Dr. Bacon will swing by to collect the mechanical part so he can make you a cold-resistant diving suit. He also recommends you get a powerful weapon before you venture to the Glacial Area, and tells you that the Diving Knife can now be updated via the iDiver app. Upgrade it enough, and it can be used to mine minerals that you would have previously needed a pickaxe for.
Cobra and Dave will both agree that you'll need some better weapons, so call Duff. Duff will tell you he needs new minerals to make better weapons, and recommend you check with the Sea People, and if you've completed the previous missions for Duwa, the Workshop will be reopened.
Take the Sea People Mirror down to Sea People Village and talk to Duwa. He's still not 100%, but he's well enough to reopen the Workshop. He'll see you components for weapons and buy things from you as well.
Seaweed Farm
If you previously completed Grow Sea People Plants in Chapter 3, talk to Gumo at Sea People Village. The Seaweed Farm will now be open. You can purchase seeds from Gazin at the Seed Shop and plant them at the Seaweed Farm to have access to Seaweed without having to gather it yourself.

Enter the Glacial Area
Make sure you've purchased any iDiver upgrades, have a good weapon, and have purchased any weapon upgrades you want before you head to the next area. Once you're ready, use the Sea People Mirror on the boat to head back to the Glacial Area. Go straight down from the large mirror and enter the area. Beneath you. This is a large area, and there's a lot to explore. You'll find new fish to catch, new items to collect, and new Ecowatcher missions to complete once you're here, so feel free to explore if you want to see all you can see.
Once you're ready, head right. Watch out for the narwhal swimming around in this area. He's both hostile and tough, and he can be surprisingly hard to take down without a strong weapon. Continue to head right until you run into a stone door with a stone slab to the left of it. You'll need to take a picture of it to show to Dr. Bacon. Head to the photo spot, and interact with it.
To get a good photo, zoom out to about 0.9. As always, use the green dot in the upper left of the frame to make sure you're getting a good photo before you snap the picture. Once it's done, explore as much as you'd like, head back to the surface to show it to Dr. Bacon. This completes the Explore the Glacial Area mission.
Ancient Stone Slab
Back on the surface, Dr. Bacon will ask you to help decipher the picture of the tablet you brought up. This takes the form of a mini-game. To decode the tablet, hold down the right mouse button or right trigger and move it across the tablet. Your goal is to erase the orange gunk coating the tablet. Take it slow and steady, and work methodically to uncover the whole thing. You can see how you're doing using the picture to the right of the tablet.
Once you're done decoding the tablet, Dr. Bacon will tell you he can't translate it because it seems to be a spell and he can't actually speak the language. Dave suggests speaking to Niamo, so head back to the Temple in Sea People Village. Take the mirror on the boat, then travel to the second level via the Portal on the lower level.
advertisement
Turns out the Stone Slab is saying something a little complicated. There are three doors in the Glacial Area. Inside each door is a switch, and activating the switches will let you into the Divine Tree Control Room. The Stone Slab you found is a spell that will open the door for you. Niamo suggests taking Suwam with you to perform the spell.
You'll be transported to the door, Suwam will cast the spell by doing a weird little dance, and the door will open. Suwam won't come with you, so you'll have to enter the next area alone.
You'll notice what is essentially a rotating gear blocking your way. Swim straight into it to turn it. This turns on the spikes in the passage's floor and ceiling. Continue forward, past the rotating gear, and into the spikes. You'll need to go over and under them, depending on whether they're coming from the floor or ceiling. You'll find a Jade Marble in the middle of the second set of spikes.
The third set of spikes is a little more complicated. If you wait until all of them retract, you should be able to dash straight through them if you don't stop. You can also stop in the lower gaps between the spikes. There's another Jade Marble in this section of spikes. You can stop, grab it, and wait for the spikes to retract in the gap, then continue on your way.
You'll find what looks like a giant pinball machine in the next area. The goal, however, is to maneuver the bumpers so the boulder you drop by pressing the switch on the left side of the room falls through the ice in the center of the room. You can adjust the bumpers by rotating the plates they're sitting on via the rotating gears on the left and right sides of the area. The left gear controls the bumpers on top, and the right gear controls the bumpers on the bottom. Keep in mind that either gear can rotate the bumper in the center, and use that to your advantage.
This can be a little tricky, and there are several ways to go about it. Essentially, you want to rotate the two plates the bumpers are sitting on so that the boulder rolls from the top left of the contraption and falls into the center area. We found success by making sure that the top left bumper is descending from left to right, the top middle bumper is vertical, and the bottom right bumper is ascending from left to right. Your solution might be different. If you think you have something that will work, press the switch on the left side to drop the boulder and test it. Our solution looked like this:
advertisement
Once the ice is broken, proceed downward. There's not much to do in this next room yet (you'll be able to snap a photo here later on), so keep going left. Don't forget to pick up the Jade Bowl on the sea floor and the Jade Marble on the raised area as you pass.
In the next room, you'll see a large statue of King Long, but its pose doesn't match how he's depicted in the mural behind him. You'll have to fix it. There are three gears in the room. The right gear rotates King Long's right; the center gear rotates his head; and the left gear moves his left arm up and down. To match the statue to the mural, push the right gear up until the position of King Long's right arm matches, then push the center gear all the way to the left, and the left gear until the left arm matches. The right arm can be a little tricky, so you may have to fiddle with it a little bit before it's in the right place. Once everything is in the right place, you'll activate the switch that opens the first lock.
The head of King Long's statue will also open, and a beam will shoot up and melt the ice above you. It's time to report back to Tenzhin. Follow the beam up to the exit, and head back to Sea People Village.
Talk to Tenzhin
Head back to Tenzhin's House, and speak to him. He'll ask you to keep looking for the rest of the switches so you can get into the Divine Tree Control Room and hurry before Sea People Village is destroyed. Finishing this conversation rewards you with 200 Bei and completes the Ancient Stone Slab mission.
The Missing Beluga
Once you leave Tenzhin's place, you'll see a cutscene in which Ramo chastizes two guards who are having trouble finding the village's beluga, which has gone missing. It's your job to find it. Head back to the Glacial Area.
advertisement
You'll find the beluga on the left side of the Glacial Area, inside a series of ice tunnels. The tunnels are maze-like, so it's easy to get lost. You can enter from the top or bottom of the structure, but it's easier to find the beluga from the bottom. Head to the bottom of the ice tunnels. You'll be prevented from going too deep by the heat, so just head down and left. Just before you run into the lower entrance, you'll run into a photo spot.
Photo Spot: Lion's Mane Jellyfish
Head over to the photo spot and set up to take your picture. You won't need to zoom in or out for this one. Ensure the jellyfish is on the right side of the frame, and then wait for the narwhal to complete his circuit and turn around to swim right. Once he's in the frame, snap your photo.
Okay, back to the search for the missing beluga. Continue to head left past the photo spot, and you will come to the entrance to the ice tunnels.
From there, follow the path up to your right. This is the only way you can go from the bottom entrance.
You'll come to a fork in the tunnel a short distance. One path leads up, and the other path leads down. When you do, take the path leading down. After a short swim, you'll run into the beluga, who is lying on the ice.
Before you can do anything to help the beluga, a white octopus will emerge from the ice behind it. Dave thinks the octopus has poisoned the beluga, and when he approaches it, it sprays poison in his direction. Time for another octopus chase.
advertisement
Your goal here is to catch the octopus, so follow him. He's fast, so use your dash to keep up. If you have the Octopus Bracelet equipped, using the extra dash ability it gives you can also help. As you chase him, the octopus will knock down the ice stalactites hanging from the ceiling. Avoid them by swimming over or under them, and keep following him.
If you get too close to the octopus, it will try to spray you with its poison. The cloud isn't very big, however, so you can just swim around it if it tries to spray you. Eventually, you'll corner the octopus, and you'll be presented with a choice to either Rescue the octopus or Harvest it. If you choose Rescue, you'll be awarded a Jade Fish Statue and the Antarctic Octopus Antidote. You'll also want to check the large, circular door in front of you with the current coming out of it. You can't enter it yet, but you'll want to remember where it is.
Antidote in hand, head back to the beluga. The ice tunnel is a maze, so it can be easy to get lost. From the place where you cornered the octopus, you'll want to follow the path left, up, right, down, and then take the path on your lower right when the path splits. This will lead you back to the beluga. The beluga will be much happier after receiving the antidote and head back to the village on its own. This completes The Missing Beluga mission.
You can continue to explore the Glacial Area if you like, but you'll need to head back to the boat to continue the story. Finish up anything else you want to do in the Glacial Area, and then head back.
Chinese Cuisine Contest
Around this time, a new VIP will appear at Bancho Sushi. His name is Wang Pang, and he challenges Bancho to face off involving Chinese Cuisine. To beat Wang Pang, Bancho will need one Bluespotted Stargazer, one Wheat, Olive Oil, and one Egg. You can find Bluespotted Stargazers at depths of 130-250 meters, get Wheat and Eggs from the Farm, and find Olive Oil in Cooking Pots or dispatch your staff to get them. You only have two days to gather these materials, so keep that in mind.
advertisement
Follow the on-screen instructions to prepare the food. You'll chop the carrot and onion, and then prepare the fish. Finally, you'll fry everything in a frying pan.
Do everything properly, and Vincent will declare Bancho the winner. You'll receive 1,000 Gold and 50 Likes are a reward.
Giant Stringray at Night
The next day, you'll get a call from Udo telling you the picture you took was well-received and that Udo needs your help taking another great picture. This time, he wants to snap a photo of a Manta Ray, but Manta Rays only appear at night, and you'll need to lure them out. Neither Dave nor Udo knows what Manta Rays eat, but Ellie does. Give her a call.
To make a lure, you'll need to get 5 Kelp. You probably already have this, but if not, you can find it on the sea floor between depths of 50-130 feet. Once you get it, Ellie will call you back and give you the lure she makes.
Afterward, Udo will call you back. He's excited, but he needs to make preparations. He'll call you again when he's ready. This ends the mission.
Check the Control Room Entrance
advertisement
The next day, you'll start out back on the boat. It's time to head back to the Cave with an Out-Flowing Current. To get there, take the mirror back to the Glacial Area. This time, you'll want to enter from the top.
Once you do, head down and follow the path to the right. The path will split: one fork goes left, and the other one goes down. Take the one to your left.
Follow the path left, down, and around to the right to reach the Cave with an Out-Flowing Current.
The current isn't as strong as it was the day before, but it's still too strong for Dave to pass. The beluga you rescued earlier will show up, and offer to let you ride on its back. Dave will hop on, and you'll go into the cave.
You'll control the belgua in this cave. You can press Lctrl or the left analog stick to dash and destroy obstacles in your way. The beluga has three bars of health, and getting hit removes one bar. You can eat the shrimp you'll see along the way to restore one bar of health.
As you move toward the cave, you'll have to dodge several jellyfish. Go over and under them to avoid them. There's a shrimp on the lower portion of the screen past the jellyfish if you take damage.
advertisement
Once you're past the jellyfish, you'll run into a series of ice walls. Break them by pressing Lctrl or the left analog stick.
In the next area, you'll see several sea urchins on the ground and ceiling that will shoot poison balls at you. Avoid the poison balls and the sea urchins themselves by swimming around them. If you take damage, there's a shrimp right below the top sea urchin, near the floor.
in the next area, there are more sea urchins on the right walls and several jellyfish that move back and forth. You can either stick to the right side of the screen and move between the sea urchins and the jellyfish, or move to the left side and avoid the jellyfish and sea urchins from a distance. There's another shrimp on the upper left side of this area, just before you go left if you need it.
After passing another sea urchin, you run into ice shards on the ceiling that will expand down toward the floor when you approach them. While you can destroy most of the ice in the area with the beluga's ram, you cannot destroy these. Stay close to the floor to avoid them.
After passing another sea urchin, you'll see another ice wall you'll have to break through. There are black jellyfish just after the ice wall that emerge from a brown hole. Unlike white jellyfish, these black jellyfish will chase you and explore after they've gone a certain distance or they touch you, whichever comes first. Swim away from them as quickly as possible to avoid them.
Break through another ice wall and pass two sea urchins on your left side. The path will curve to the right, and a shrimp will be to your right as the path turns right.
advertisement
Next, you'll pass another brown hole that spawns jellyfish and some white jellyfish moving back and forth. Move between them to avoid them, and then follow the path right.
Next, you'll pass some jellyfish and ice shards protruding up from the floor. Stay near the top of the screen to avoid them.
Finally, you'll pass another ice shard on the ceiling, another white, jellyfish, and a sea urchin on the sea floor. Swim beneath the ice shard, and then go over or under the jellyfish while avoiding the sea urchin. After breaking four more ice walls, you'll go into a boss fight.
Boss Fight: Phantom Jellyfish
The Phantom Jellyfish isn't a traditional boss fight. You'll have to stay on the beluga, and you can only hurt the Phantom Jellyfish when it reveals its glowing red eye.
The Phantom Jelly will start out by spawning several black jellyfish. These jellyfish explode after a while or when they touch you, so avoid them.
advertisement
The Phantom Jellyfish will also blast a strong current at you that will blow you backward. Afterward, he will shoot several poisonous blobs at you. Avoid them while moving toward the Phantom Jellyfish. When you're close enough, ram the Phantom Jellyfish in the eye by pressing Lctrl or the left analog stick.
The Phantom Jellyfish will repeat these two phases, spawning more jellyfish and poison blobs each time. Once you ram its eye three times, the fight will end. Inspect the tentacle the Phantom Jellyfish leaves behind to receive a Phantom Jellyfish Poison Sack and Phantom Jellyfish Meat. Afterward, enter the glowing door on the lower right side of the area, and pull the lever in the next area. This activates the second Divine Tree Control Room switch and opens the door to the right side of the screen, which you can use to exit the area. It also completes the Check the Control Room Entrance quest.
Find the Third Device
Once you exit the area, exit the ice tunnel and go down to the left side of the map. You'll notice a bunch of ancient creatures swimming around an alcove now that the ice has melted. You can snap a picture for Udo here.
Photo Spot: Arandaspis
Swim a little further down, and you'll see a group of what looks like tadpoles. These little guys are what you want to take a picture of.
They're called Arandaspis, and ideally, you want to get all four of them in the shot. To do that, zoom out a little bit to about 0.9 zoom, move your camera slightly to the left, and position your camera accordingly. The Arandaspis go around in circles, so observe their pattern. When all four of them are in the shot, take the picture. You'll receive 750 Gold for the picture when you return to the boat and an additional 150 Gold for completing the bonus objective.
advertisement
Once you have a photo you're happy with, head back up out of this alcove and then go right.
Continue right, past the large area beneath you that slopes down to the entrance of the Divine Tree Control Room. Continue right, but be sure to watch out for the hostile fish that roam this area.
Once you get to the other side of the area, you'll see it start to slope back up again. Continue right until you come to a passage leading down. You'll see Suwam standing next to another door.
You'll have a brief conversation with him. When you're ready to go inside, swim over to the door and select "Accept." Once you're inside, you'll notice there's no water in the area above you. You need to activate the switch above you, so Dave will have to go up there.
You'll control Suwam and Dave during this section, and you can switch between them at any time by pressing the button marked "Switch" on the lower left corner of your screen. To start things off, switch to Dave, and head right. You'll need to press the space bar or X/square to have Dave climb or down. Walk him over to the switch on the right side of the screen, and have him stand on it.
Activating this switch will lower the stone slab blocking Suwam's way. Switch to Suwam, and use dash to make sure he can swim past the current.
advertisement
Afterward, follow the path down and then right. You'll see another current in front of you. This one is carrying some rocks, so be sure to go over or under them as you dash through the current.
Once you get past the current, follow the path up through the circular device, and head left to the lever. Use the right mouse button or right trigger to pull the lever to lower another stone slab blocking Dave's way.
Switch back to Dave, and crouch walk through the small tunnel in front of you.
Once you're through, you'll be in a small room with ice shards falling from the ceiling. Dave moves slowly, so wait for the ones in front of you to fall before moving past them. Dave can only take 3 hits from the ice shards, so be careful. Move to the stairs, and wait for the ice shard right above the lower step to fall before climbing up.
Walk up to the second step, then move back and wait for the ice shard above you to fall before climbing up the second stair and walking through the door to press the button in the center of the large gear in front of you, which rotates the circular contraptions on Suwam's level.
Switch to Suwam, and go through the contraption in front of you, and then enter the next one on your right and press the button inside once. This will move the contraption Suwam is in, and rotate one on the upper level and allow Dave to cross.
advertisement
Switch back to Dave, and have him crouch under the overhangs. As before, wait for the ice shards in front of him to fall before you move past them. Walk through the circular gear on your right.
Ahead of you, you'll three large stone slabs that rise and fall. If you get stuck under any of them, they will crush you. Wait until the slabs retreat into the ceiling, then climb onto the ledge above you and walk past the first slab. Once you reach the second slab, walk up to the ledge below it and crouch next to it to avoid being crushed.
Once the slabs retreat into the ceiling again, climb the ledge in front of you, walk across is, hop down off of it, and crouch immediately to avoid being crushed again.
Once the slabs retract again, hop down off the ledge, walk over to the next ledge, and crouch one more time to avoid being crushed.
Once the slabs retract for the final time, hop onto the ledge above you, cross it, climb down, and then go over to the gear in front of you and press the button at its center to rotate a gear beneath you.
Swim back to Suwam, and press the button in the circular contraption you're inside. Once it rotates again, swim right and take the path down. Be careful of the ice shards on the ceiling. You can hide in al alcove on the lower left side of the package to avoid them.
At the bottom, head right and then swim up, being sure to avoid the closing walls on either side.
advertisement
Once you're through, swim through the gear to your right and pull the lever to extend a bridge on Dave's level.
Switch back to Dave, cross the bridge, and crouch under the low-hanging steps to cross into the next area. Grab the Divine Tree Fruit, walk it over to the hole in the floor, and drop it down to Suwam's level.
Switch back to Suwam, let go of the lever, and swim under the mirror on the wall and the slab sticking out of the roof. Pick up the Divine Tree Fruit you dropped down as Dave and drop it into the laser contraption hanging from the right wall.
This will melt the ice on the stone slab on your left. Switch to Dave and crouch walk out of the area you're in. Have him stand on the slightly raise grey floor just about the stone slab on Suwam's level and then switch back to Suwam. Swim over to the level on your left and pull it. This will raise the slab Dave is standing on with him on it, and redirect the laser to the mirrors on the upper levels.
Switch back to Dave and climb the ledges in front of you, then crouch walk under the stone slab ahead of you, and step on the switch. This will melt the ice about Dave and finally raise the water level.
Switch back to Suwam and swim right, following the path until you reach a chain you can pull. Pull it to close the stone door on Dave's level.
advertisement
Switch back to Dave, and walk across the now-closed stone door. Continue forward, and drop down the ledge in front of you when you see a lever in front of you. This will trigger a cutscene (if it doesn't switch to Suwam and move him forward until the cutscene occurs) where Dave and Suwam both pull a lever. This will raise the water level further and open up a passage below you. Dave will dive back into the water, and he and Suwam will swim to the next level together.
It Takes Two
From this point on, you'll control Dave and Suwam simultaneously. You can control Dave with the WASD keys or the left analog stick and dash with the left Shift key or left trigger. You'll control Suwam with the arrow keys or right analog stick and dash with the right Shift key or right trigger. This control scheme can take some getting used to, so take it slow initially as you get a feel for things. Suwam also has the ability to make tube worms retract and can swim against the current. You also have three hearts split between Dave and Suwam, meaning you can only take three total hits before dying.
Move Suwam and Dave forward, making sure to watch out for the ice shards dropping from the ceiling. If you need time to get used to the controls, you can move them one at a time.
Follow the path up and to your right until you reach a tube worm tunnel. Suwam can make the tube worms retract, so have him lead while having Dave follow close behind. Follow the tunnel until it ends, and keep going right.
Move into the next chamber and move Dave and Suwam to one of the buttons. You must have both characters press the buttons at the same time, which will raise the stone slab in front of you and allow you to pass. Use LCtrl or left trigger to have Dave push the button and RCtrl or right trigger for Suwam.
advertisement
Proceed into the next room. You'll see a button and a lever. Ignore the button for now, and have Dave swim over to the level and pull it. Dave must continue to push the lever as Suwam swims through the current to your right, follows the path up, and then goes left towards a button directly above the one in the room Dave is in.
Once Suwam is in place, move Dave over to the lower button and press both buttons at the same time. This will retract the stone slab above Dave.
Have both characters swim up until they run into another stone slab on your right and a chain you can pull to the left of it. Have one character pull the chain down and raise the stone slab. Then, have the other character swim to the other side and pull the chain you find there so the first character can swim under the stone slab and join them.
From here, swim down into the next room and pick up the large stone block with the chains on either side of it. You'll need to use both characters to lift the slab. Once you have it, place it to the left or right side, and continue down into the area you just opened.
Next, you'll head down into a room with four buttons you'll have to press. You'll need to press two at a time, and then quickly press the next two in a short time limit. It's easiest to press the top two buttons and then move to the bottom two.
Once you've pressed all four buttons, the stone slabs to your right will start moving. Move Suwam and Dave between them, and place them in the cracks in the slabs to keep them safe when the slabs close. When they open again, swim to the other side.
advertisement
Once you're in the next room, swim up and have one character interact with the chain beneath the stone platform blocking your way. Use this platform as an umbrella to block the falling ice shards, and keep moving up and to your left.
You'll see a switch you can press on the left side of the screen, so press it to lower the stone slab blocking the exit at the right side of the room, then use your stone umbrella again to avoid the ice shards as you move to the right side of the room and past the stone slab.
Once you get to the right side of the room, you'll be automatically transported to the next area. Be ready for a boss fight.
Boss Fight: Helicoprion
The Helicorpion has a few tricks up its sleeve, but like most bosses, its attacks are fairly limited. You'll control both Dave and Suwam for this fight, but Suwam is limited to a very small area up top where he can hit the Divine Tree Fruit to stun the boss when it's close to him.
It has a three-hit combination attack that starts when it sweeps its jaw down at you.
Then it will sweep its jaw up.
advertisement
Finally, it will charge forward.
Avoid it by staying away from the Helicoprion and swimming under the charge at the end.
The other major attack the Helicoprion has is a charge. The Helicoprion will tense up before it charges at you, so use this opportunity to go over or under the attack.
The easiest way to defeat the Helicoprion is to keep away from it and shoot it, or lure it up to where Suwam is and have Suwam strike the Divine Fruit, or bait it into charging you while you stand in front of a rock. Move out of the way, and the Helicoprion will get stuck in the rock. Use these opportunities to shoot it several times. If you need more ammo, a weapon chest, and several ammo boxes are scattered around the area.
After you deal enough damage, the Helcoprion will become enraged and roar, but this doesn't change the fight in any meaningful way. Continue to use the strategies outlined above to land hits. Eventually, the Helicoprion will go down, but not before opening up the door to the next area. Interact with the Helicoprion to receive the Helcoprion Sawblade and Helicoprion Tail, then head to the next room.
In the next room, swim over to the large lever in the center of the room. This will activate the third and final switch to open the Divine Tree Control Room and will open the stone door on the lower right of the room. Head through that door when you're ready for another boss fight.

Check the Control Room Entrance
Once you exit the door you entered the area from, swim up and then left and down to get back to the entrance to the Divine Tree Control Room.
Despite your efforts, the door still won't open because it's gotten stuck on the Divine Tree's roots. You won't have much time to think about that, though, because you're about to fight a boss.
Boss Fight: John Watson
You can't actually hurt John Watson's fancy new Dekken-9 submarine, so run away from it. We recommend heading for the right side of the screen John Watson will only shoot missiles at you, so swim away from them as fast as you can, and use your mobility to avoid them. Like the missiles from his diving suit, they will eventually stop chasing you and explode.
After you avoid a few missiles, the real boss fight begins.

Boss Fight: Kronosaurus
The Kronosaurus quickly takes out John Watson and then turns its attention to you. You can damage the Kronosaurus with your regular weapons, and you should, because it will make the fight go faster, but the real key to this boss is the missile launcher that came off of John Watson's submarine.
The Kronosaurus only has a few attacks, but it does absolutely massive damage to your oxygen supply every time it hits you, and you'll die in a couple of hits, even if you've purchased a lot of upgrades, so avoid getting hit at all costs, even if it means sacrificing landing a few hits yourself.
The Kronosaurus will do a vacuum attack that will suck up rocks from the sea floor, as well as the missile launcher, if you're not carrying it.
Then the Kronosaurus will spit those rocks at you. Avoid them by swimming through the gaps between the rocks or by swimming over or under them.
The Kronosaurus also has a fire breath attack. It looks very similar to his vacuum attack at first, but you'll be able to tell the difference when you see the fire start to form in his mouth. To avoid this attack, swim toward the Kronosaurus and up as fast as you can. The fire starts at the bottom of the screen and then goes up. If you only swim up, it may still hit you because of the angle. If you are holding the missile launcher, drop it. You will not be fast enough to avoid it if you don't.
His final attack is a lunge attack. You'll know this is coming because he will open his mouth and move forward before finally lunging at you. This attack is the hardest of the three to avoid, and you'll probably take two hits if the intial attack hits because you'll be inside the Kronosaurus and take another hit as you try to swim away. To avoid this, try to swim over or under it while swimming in the direction of the Kronosaurus. Simply swimming away from the Kronosarus will not work.

While you're avoiding all this, you'll also want to shoot the Kronosaurus with the missile launcher when you can. Pick up the missile launcher with the right mouse button or right trigger and hold the right mouse button or A/the x button to lock on. When you have a lock, release the button you are holding to fire. The missile launcher will have to recharge between shots, so drop it when you're not using it. When it glows white, it can be used again. Between missile shots, shoot the Kronosarus with your gun. There are weapon chests, clams for air, and ammo scattered throughout the area if you need help.
Eventually, you will defeat the Kronosaurus, though it may take a few attempts. Afterward, you'll be contacted by a drone built by Duff and Dr. Bacon. The drone can cut through the roots blocking the entrance to the Divine Tree Control Room, but it will take 2 Days to do so. Dr. Bacon will let you know when he's finished.
In the meantime, inspect the dead Kronosaurus to receive the Kronosaurus Thyroid Gland and Kronosaurus Tongue. This completes Check the Control Room Entrance.
Lost Baby Manatee
Speak to Gumo at Sea People Village to hear that a baby manatee is missing. Dave thinks it might have gotten lost in the Glacial Area, like the beluga, so make sure you have a decent weapon and then head there. You'll find the baby manatee in the ice tunnel maze on the left side of the Glacial Area. Once again, you can enter this area from the top or bottom of the screen, but it's easier to get there from the top.
You'll be able to hear the baby manatee's cries once you enter the area so follow them to their source. Take the path down from the top entrance, and when the path splits, head left. Continue to follow the path up and then down. Eventually, Dave will recognize where the sound is coming from.

You'll have to drop three rocks on the cracks in the ice below you to get to the area where the manatee is. You'll find two of the rocks you need to the right of the cracked ice, and two more by taking the lower path on your right. Once you've dropped three rocks on the ice, you'll be able to proceed.
Once you're inside the Ice Hollow, head left until you see the baby manatee.
Head over to the baby manatee and interact with it with the space bar or X/square. Just like the baby whale you saved earlier, you'll have to pet the baby manatee to calm it down. This time, you'll have to pet it in certain places marked by a pink circle. Use the mouse or the left analog stick to pet the manatee. You'll have to pet it in three different places before it calms down.
Once the baby manatee has calmed down, it's time to leave. Head right out of the area and the baby manatee will follow you. You'll run into a narwhal that is blocking your way. The baby manatee won't follow you out until you kill it, so you'll have to do that before you can proceed.
The most important thing in this fight is to keep the narwhal away from the baby manatee. The baby manatee doesn't have a lot of health, and the narwhal will attack it if you stand next to it. Position yourself away from the narwhal and shoot it as you dodge its attacks, which are pretty telegraphed. Once you've taken the narwhal out and inspected its corpse, continue right. You'll run into a Porbeagle Shark.
As before, you'll have to take out the shark to progress. Keep it away from the manatee, and dodge its charge attack by going over or under it, and then shoot it. Once the shark goes down, inspect its body to loot it and then exit the area. The baby manatee will be able to find its way back on its own, so your job is done. Return to Gumo to receive 35 Bei, 3 Sea Grape Seeds, and 3 Agar Seeds, and complete the quest.

Take Pictures of Manta Rays
Around this time, you'll get a call from Udo telling you he's ready to take pictures of the Manta Ray. He's set up some lights around 20 meters deep to make sure you get a good shot and asks you to check on them. You'll have to dive at night to complete this mission, but the rewards are worth it.
You'll find the lights on the right side of the Blue Hole, 20 meters down.
They've been knocked over and unplugged, so you'll have to fix that before you can do anything else.
Fix the first light on the left side of the area.
Then carry the cord over to the generator to plug everything back in.
Once that's done, set the lure in place by heading back to the center of the area. Hide in the rocks on the right side of the area, next to the generator, to make the Manta Ray appear. You don't want to get too close to the Manta Ray, or you'll scare it away. Get close enough to trigger the option to take the picture, and then ready your camera.

To take the best photo, zoom your camera out to 0.9 and position it so your frame is in the lights. Wait for the Manta Ray to come into the center to eat some plankton, and snap the photo when it is illuminated. Return to the surface to talk to a very happy Udo, who will reward you with 1,000 Gold. You'll also get the ability to take photos at night now, too!
